It is out of the question to point out how one canavoid diabetes because there is no single principle as to how this can be accomplished. Diabetes has several risk factors, and getting a balanced diet cannot guarantee that you will not get diabetes, although it can go a long way.
One of the danger that bear on the onslaught of diabetes is obesity. There have been a lot of studies associating diabetes with obesity. In fact, most people with diabetes type 2 are deemed heavy based on their BMI. In order to avoid this risk factor, you can modify your diet into something more heart-healthy and diabetic-friendly.
Another risk factor for diabetes is having a sedentary lifestyle. Being inactive can also lead to diabetes, especially if you pair this with an unhealthy diet. Getting a family history of diabetes also gains one's risk of acquiring the said disease. Also, medical conditions such as hypertension or high blood pressure and hyperlipidaemia can put you at risk for getting diabetes.
So fundamentally, diet is not the only cause of diabetes. You may be eating what you believe is a heart-healthy diet, but if you have a family history of diabetes, you might still be able to get the illness. On The Other Hand, as most mass say, prevention is always best than remedy. So while you are still young, try to live a healthy lifestyle so that you may be able to avoid hurting from lasting illnesses such as diabetes.
